This morning I was getting ready for church and I went to sharpen my eyebrow pencil but there was nothing left. I had sharpened it so many times that it was completely worn out, there was nothing left inside. I looked at the pencil and thought it was a pretty good representation of how I was feeling.
“He will speak out against the Most High
and
wear down the saints of the Highest One”
Daniel 7:25 NASB
Have you ever Felt Like Someone’s Trying to Wear You Down?
Issues unresolved in my life for almost a decade have left my energy depleted. It’s frustrating because in so many areas of my life I have seen such tremendous growth and increase, yet in this area the enemy ‘seems’ to have the upper hand.
Proverbs 17:22 says, “a broken spirit saps a person’s strength.”
You see, there literally is someone trying to wear You down. The enemy of your soul is trying to break your spirit so he can sap your energy and get you to quit. When talking about the devil, Jesus reminds us that he comes only to steal, kill and destroy. The devil doesn’t have any good plans for your life…but God does!
God has planned for your victory.
Understanding victory is only achieved through a battle helps you accept that although victory doesn’t come easy, it will come!
If you’re feeling worn down, worn out, and sapped of strength today…please don’t give up! Fight the urge to “become weary in doing good, for at the proper time” you “will reap a harvest if” you “do not give up.”3
Prayer
Father…I thank You for promising me victory. The enemy will do his best to try and wear me down, but Your joy will be my strength. You have given me everything I need for life and I trust that you will use this current battle to bring about overwhelming victory in my life! In Jesus’ Name…Amen

This is a timely reminder for me, Sherry — coming off a glorious wedding weekend for #2 son, and searching for a re-entry point to normal life. So blessed by your ministry of encouragement!
Michele,
So exciting to hear that you had another family wedding! Those are fun times, but often with all the details it can wear you down. Praying for a time of refreshing in your life to replenish all you’ve given out.
Be Blessed & Refreshed,
~Sherry

Sherry, you have no idea how appropriate your message was for me today. I will email you with the details.
Laura,
So glad to hear that 🙂 Praying you don’t give up. I know that struggle has been long, but I’m praying for breakthrough in your health.

Sherry,
I can relate to the eyebrow pencil being empty! I’ve felt quite depleted of energy and verve myself lately and prayer is definitely one way I’m fighting it. But God does give us the strength and grace we need to get through the day and for that, I am so grateful! xo Love to you!
Valerie,
You’re so right! Praying for the strength and grace of God to empower you today.

I can totally relate to your eyeliner pencil illustration. I’m so glad you’ve pinpointed exactly who your enemy is (and it’s not a human being). Satan truly does wear us down and empty us out when we are unaware of his strategies against us.
Sarah,
My wise friend Wendy said to me years ago, “If they have skin, they’re not the enemy!” Great words to live by.
Praying you’re Blessed & Refreshed!

Great word, Sherry. I’m so thankful the Lord gives us rest and restores our soul. (Psalm 23) Blessings over your writing and ministry.

Yes! I feel the spiritual battle going on big time in my life. Your words “victory is only achieved through a battle” really helps me not feel defeated that I am still in the battle and to hand on and keep praying.
Valerie,
I’m so glad to hear you’re encouraged by this post. I’ve received a lot of private messages from people feeling the same as you. Praying you sense a renewed strength to defeat the enemy and move forward in victory!

Sherry I could use some prayer. Really struggling these days like never before. This was encouraging but I’m still not there and don’t know how to get through this time.
Elly,
I will pray for you for sure! So sorry to hear you’re going through a hard time. Love you girl 🙂

I am feeling very worn down and tired of trying to make things better. At the point of throwing in the towel as I just can’t seem to win. 🙁
Kathie,
I know what it’s like to be in that place. I hope you realize who’s at the core of this and gain the strength to stand up and fight. Love ya and I’ll be praying for you.
