My feet first touched Guatemalan soil in March of 2010. The dream of going on a mission’s trip had been burning in my heart since I was a teen…and let’s just say I wasn’t a teen at that time 🙂
When I started dating Todd we talked about how we had both gone to Guatemala and realized both had a desire to return. We fulfilled that dream earlier this year and while we were in Guatemala I was given the opportunity to speak at a women’s event.
We had 28 beautiful women attend with only four days notice of the event!
Things went so well that I’ve been asked to come back with a bunch of girlfriends and run a week of women’s events in different towns across Guatemala. This opportunity is yet another dream God gave me to make an impact in the lives of women around the globe. February 2018 will see more of my dreams taking flight in Guatemala and I’m hoping you might join me!
[tweetthis]When God gives a dream, it will be fulfilled.[/tweetthis]
Todd and I travelled with Sam Welten this past year. Sam is the founder of Possibilities International (PI); a humanitarian organization that exists to fulfill simple dreams of the hurting, helpless and hopeless by raising up a nation of everyday philanthropists. He has been a friend of both Todd and I for years, actually decades.
Since 2005 he’s been taking people on cross-cultural humanitarian trips through PI. He’s also the Senior Pastor of New Life Assembly in Petrolia, ON. Sam is the most generous person you could meet (next to my mother-in-law) and has the biggest heart you can imagine!
Sam has a heart to help the women of Guatemala. He has seen firsthand the hardships that many women face and has been compelled to do something about it. That’s how this trip came about.
Sam and I would love for you to come with us to Guatemala in February of 2018 for THE WOMAN’S PROJECT trip so we can make this dream a reality. On the trip we will run about 5 Women’s Events, build a home for a single mom and her children, visit a school to love on some kids and fulfill other humanitarian needs. Our desire is to bless and spiritually refresh the women we visit so they experience an overwhelming sense of God’s love and unity with their Christian sisters from Canada.

This year, we only had four days to prepare for the women’s event so we didn’t have things organized like I would have wanted it. Each lady received a very small gift bag, yet they were so thankful. In true PI fashion, I want to give these women the biggest gift they’ve ever received!
I hope you can be with me when we go back and overwhelm these girls with some ‘lemony goodness’ (that’s a Sammy term). There will be prizes of perfume and jewelry and the gift bag will include yet another dream! Inside each ladies bag, amongst other items will be a copy of my Soul H2O Devotional in Spanish! Oh I can barely take this it’s so good!!!!!!
Years ago God gave my friend Claudia Raymundo a dream to translate my books into Spanish to help her friends and family. Claudia’s from El Salvador. At the time, Claudia had just started courses to become a certified translator and now she is providing translation for our government. She has completed the manuscript and it is being presented before Publishers in a couple weeks. This really is a dream trip!

Cya tomorrow for this week’s #SoulH2O Devotion. Today, have a great day celebrating with friends and family!
Be Blessed & Refreshed!

It’s one of my life-verses and it’s ringing loud in my ears.
Then I felt the Lord reminding me about the change in weather today. It’s going to be 17°F/62°F! That’s crazy weather for March in Canada! Yesterday was -4°C/24°F. That’s a change of 21°C or 38°F!!!!
I believe God is declaring through the weather that a shift is coming in circumstances. Those things long waited for are going to come to pass. Habakkuk said “though it linger, WAIT for it”!1
I don’t know about you, but I’ve been ‘lingering’ for a long time and waiting for God to break through. I am going to be intentional and live proleptically2. I’m going to thank God for the victory3 before it even comes, in faith believing HE IS TRUE TO HIS WORD, because I know He is!
I recorded a Facebook Live video related to this message on the afternoon I posted it. Watch here to be encouraged…There is a CHANGE in the weather for you!

1 Habakkuk 2:3
For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false.
Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.

When I was growing up I didn’t know what Lent was. Embarrassingly, I didn’t know about Lent until St. James United Church in Waterdown used my book, WATER IN THE DESERT for their Lent Celebrations. I had heard about it, but since the churches I had attended in the past didn’t observe Lent I had no clue what it was about.
My involvement with St. James during their Lent events helped me to see the value in being a part. Taking 40 days out of every year to focus on your relationship with Christ and what He did for us on the cross could never be a bad thing. I really don’t know why my church doesn’t honor this tradition to prepare your heart for Easter? I know it’s not mandated in the Bible or anything, but it’s such a good thing. If you want to read up on some of the times the Bible talks about people who set apart 40 Days to meet with God check out Todd’s

My friends who celebrate Lent are always looking for something to do, some GREAT IDEA that will make this year better than any other in their Lent times. Well, I’ve got a great idea for you!
And have Todd and I on the journey with you? They’re always FREE and for now until April 13th when LENT is over we are giving away the WATER IN THE DESERT Children’s program for FREE!

The only thing you need is one of our books and an email address. If you don’t have one, run to your local Christian Bookstore and get one or a Chapters/Indigo nearest you. If you live far out Amazon or Chapters/Indigo online is your best bet for quick delivery.
Already taken a Challenge and want to do it again…NO PROBLEM. If you have a different email address than the one you used just enter that one and it will work like a charm 🙂 If not, we just need you to email us so we delete your first entry and re-input your email address again.
KICKSTART the next 40 days of your life! Sign Up for FREE on http://www.takethe40daychallenge.com to take your 40 Day Challenge! You’ll receive 40 days worth of emails that coincide with our devotional books; WATER IN THE DESERT, SOUL H2O or 40 DAYS IN THE MAN CAVE. The emails are short and inspiring. Some are video clips, others are prayers, quotes, images you can download or just a quick message of encouragement; all related to that day’s devotion.
Todd and I are committed to helping people build or enhance their habit of PERSONAL daily devotions. Just 10 Minutes a Day will change your life! We know that getting into God’s Word on a daily basis is what will sustain you through everything you face in life; the good and the bad. You wouldn’t eat one day a week and then wonder why you’re cranky on day 3 or 4 without food would you? Your spiritual appetite is the same. You can’t just fill up at the church buffet on Sunday and expect that to get you through the week. You need daily bread!
If you’d like something fun and engaging that your kids could follow along with you on, then our WATER DROPLET program is the perfect thing! Throughout Lent we’re giving our Kid’s pages out FREE! We hope that you’ll go through the scriptures at the bottom of the pages as a family. Model to your children the value of getting into God’s Word. That was the idea given to us from St. James and each church that has done the pages in their Sunday School has told us how much their kids loved them! Families have been changed forever by starting this habit of spending time talking about God’s Word together in a casual fun way.
1 page per week for each of the 3 different age categories. You get them all so, no matter what age your children are there’s something for them to do.

The title of this blog really isn’t appropriate. It shouldn’t read I’ve Become a Nerd, because I’ve always been one, deep down. It might seem strange to find out that this ? racetrack girl ?has nerdy tendencies, but it’s true. When I was a teenager I had a subscription to Reader’s Digest for the Word Power articles! Other girls my age wanted Seventeen or Bridal Magazines. I wanted WORDS! I still do! Just ask my hubby ?.
A few months ago I started sharing my blog posts in Blogger “linkups”. I’ve been making some really great ‘virtual friends’ (yet another geeky thing). Anyhoo, I was intrigued when I linked up on Susan B. Mead’s site and read her post for Word Nerd Wednesday. (Now here’s where my really nerdy tendencies come in!) I love ??? Word Studies. I actually can get lost in them! I used to keep a Strong’s Concordance of the Bible close by, before the Internet. ? I’m Geeky, Nerdy that way.
I am a true Word Nerd. I miss Bible College, learning Greek and writing papers. I have actually kept writing papers since College for ‘fun’ so when I saw Susan’s post I professed of my nerdieness (anyone know how to spell that?) and asked how I could become a Word Nerd Writer.
Susan introduced me to the Lead Nerd, Liz Giertz from the MY MESSY DESK blog. Liz is a nerd like me, but only a cooler nerd. I have the whole drag racing side of me to balance out the nerdy side but Liz was a combat veteran. She’s a complete Rambo Chick. Liz met her hubby overseas in the army! She planned her wedding from a war zone in Balad, Iraq! How cool is that!??! She now is a work-at-home mom and a blogger on a mission. She writes about crafts and faith. I can so relate to her complete career change. I can also relate to her messy desk.
On Monday’s her blog features people in ministry, what God has done in their lives and what they’re doing for His kingdom. These posts are called MASTERPIECE MONDAYS. Check that out on Monday, February 28th to read her post on someone you might know. 🙂 Her other claim to fame is her weekly WORD NERD WEDNESDAY postings. In these posts, contributors are given a scripture and a word within that scripture to discuss. Contributors have to start off explaining the origins of the word and how it’s used in the Bible, specifically in that verse. Then the writer is supposed to explain the verse. Or at least that’s what I think a contributor is supposed to do!
This week was my first as a contributor for WORD NERD WEDNESDAY and boy was it exhilarating! I haven’t written anything like it in a long time. You know you’re a word nerd when you’re super excited to be a part of a group called WORD NERD WEDNESDAY ??????
It’s our first word of 2017! And it’s doozy! Really. I picked it because it was a word I wanted to know more about and God picked a writer who really dug deep to share with you today! I’m excited to introduce you to my new friend Sherry Stahl! Please give her a warm Messy Desk welcome!
-Liz Giertz

For my first WORD NERD WEDNESDAY I’ve been asked to write about one of the most debated words in organized Christianity! I think this may be an initiation process. Let’s hope I’m up for the challenge. 🙂

Happy Thanksgiving to all of my American friends and family! At the bottom of this post I have a FREE downloadable coloring page for your lazy afternoon. I’ve added a little competition to it, for those who want to participate 🙂
Over the past month since we celebrated Thanksgiving here in Canada I have written a few posts with a grateful theme.
First there was OVERSPRAY where I was thankful to God for an amazing wet-pet we had and who has reminded many of us to watch the OVERSPRAY of our lives.
AMAZING PEOPLE, introduced you to my three closest friends and how thankful I am for friends who walk with you through the desert. I encouraged you to join me in writing something to the AMAZING PEOPLE in your life and express your gratitude.
THANKFUL FOR TREES taught us how trees reveal so much about God and His provision in our lives. This devotion brought out a contest for the best fall tree colour picture. The winner of that Contest was….drumroll please…Evelyn Wilson from Trenton, ON!!! Evelyn posted these two fall tree photos taken at Ottawa Valley Camp (OVPC). I was blessed to speak at this camp in June for the Single Mom’s Retreat. The lake there is so beautiful! i just want to sit in one of those Adirondack chairs by the colorful trees in the picture! Ev knows that she was actually the runner-up but gets to wear the crown because the first-place winner didn’t reply to me after posting her amazing photo. Anyhoo…CONGRATULATIONS Ev! I’ll be sending you a signed copy of my newly published SOUL H2O devotional book. Here are Evelyn’s
EVERYONE’S WELCOME was sent out this Monday. It talks about how we need to:
We honor God when we adopt the ‘Everyone’s Welcome’ mission statement.
To help your Thanksgiving day be more enjoyable, or just to add a little relaxing into your day. Download this Coloring Page drawn by amazing hubby Todd onto your computer and print it off.
I just love contests and I hope you do too! I will send this Thankful bracelet and a signed copy of my newly published SOUL H2O devotional book to one of the girls who color their Thankful For The Trees page and post the finished page on social media. Make sure to tag me and use the hashtag #SoulH2O so I see your post and enter you into the contest.

This Monday my Soul H2O Devotion was titled Temptation. As I wrote I was inspired to create a Mini Bible Study to help you beat temptation.
If you haven’t read that devotion, I would encourage you to read it before you do this study. It will get you in the proper mindset to understand the enemy’s tactics so you can beat temptation.
http://www.sherrystahl.com/tempted/
I tried to get the number of ways to beat temptation down to under 10 points, but the Bible just has so much to say about overcoming temptation and I just felt I wouldn’t be doing my job to not give you all the goods!
