The Lord will fight for you; you need only be still.”
                                                Exodus 14:14  NIV

Today in church I was overwhelmed during worship as I watched my friend Holly on the worship team.  Holly is a very beautiful mother.  She and her husband have been foster parents to so many and now have just one amazing foster son and a toddler of their own.  I took a picture of her worshipping with arms raised as a reminder to live with faith like that (Holly is standing in centre stage with her hands raised in worship). Later, the other girls on the worship team and our whole church joined in agreement as Pastor Nathan prayed for Holly.  Tomorrow she starts chemotherapy.

Holly, my friend Karen and I talked after church.  There was such a stillness about Holly that it was astounding.

Through a series of events this afternoon the Lord led me to read Exodus 14:11-12 and then I saw the highlighted verses below:

“Do not be afraid.  Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today.  The Egyptians you see today you will never see again.  The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.”

This is Holly’s second time battling cancer, just like it was the Israelites second time battling the Egyptians for freedom.  God’s promise was that the Israelites would never see this enemy again.  My prayer for Holly is that she would never see this enemy of cancer again; that it would be defeated once and for all in her body.  Holly is living out the same trust in God as the Israelites did when they walked forward to deliverance through the red sea.  Holly raised her hands and sang with heartfelt emotion today:

“You split the sea so I could walk right through it.

My fears were drowned in perfect love.

You rescued me and I could stand and sing…I am a child of God!”1 2

May you have faith for deliverance and be still, so the LORD can fight for you!

Prayer

Father…I thank you for the freedom you bring.  Help me to trust you with every inch of my being.  Let my spirit be still so my heart can be free.  I break the bondage of worry and fear.  I will be still and look for your deliverance. In Jesus Name…Amen
